The mission of the Wisconsin Association of Area Agencies on Aging is to take a leadership role to strengthen the collaboration of the aging network to more effectively advocate, coordinate, plan, train and increase resource to serve older people in the State of Wisconsin. We are an organization of membership, including staff and Board members, of all the Area Agencies on Aging. In Wisconsin there are six Area Agencies on Aging, and each is designed to oversee a specified service area. The Area Agencies on Aging monitor federal and state funds for the provision of services for older people. Additionally, these agencies are responsible for advocating on behalf of older people, planning and coordinating services to help persons 60 plus maintain their health, independence and community involvement. In Wisconsin, four of the six Area Agencies on Aging are non-profit agencies; the Milwaukee Area and Dane County Agencies on Aging are part of County government.
